Start of a new life!

It's great to be free! ...that's nowadays my first thought every morning. :)
Since more than one week I finished working for EABIS and am now proudly calling myself Independent Consultant and Social Entrepreneur!
Sometimes dreams come true much faster than you thought and sometimes even more than one dream at once! But let me try and put my excitement into some kind of structured and understandable line of thoughts...

In June at the CSR Europe MarketPlace I met Nikos from the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE). We had met before at the EABIS Conference in Warsaw, so we started chatting about what was going on and somehow we ended up talking about projects around stakeholder engagement. OUr discussions continued via mail and led to me signing an agreement to be part of the CSE network of independent consultants, which was dream no.1 coming true.

Using the freedom of being able to work from wherever I want to, I prolonged my weekend stay in London to 1 week. It happend that Oskari and I went to see Timo and Eliza, who had set up the Society for Organisational Learning (SOL) in Finland, to speak about the possibility to set up SOL in Brussels. We went to see them in The Hub (www.the-hub.net). "The Hub is an incubator for social innovation. They offer membership of inspirational habitats in major world cities for social innovators to work, meet, learn, connect and realise progressive ideas. The Hub is a place for making things happen. All the tools and trimmings needed to cultivate an idea, launch a project, host a meeting and run a business. Heating, lighting, chairs and desks. Walk around phones and voicemail you can pick up from the bath. Machines for scanning, faxing, copying, printing, posting and projecting. Spaces for meeting, working, reading and playing. You can be here by the hour, the day or the month."
And guess what... I am now exploring the idea of creating a Hub in Brussels! I need: people who want to be part of the project, use it or just like the idea and want to somehow help. Then I need funds and a suitable place. And that would then be another dream coming true! I dreamt of creating a special place that attracts inspiring people and that will inspire people. A place that creates unity and collaboration. The Hub in London seems to be a very special place, founded by very special people! This morning I was there to have a chat with Jonathn, the Director of the Hub and I think we both left the meeting happy and excited - looking forward to the next steps in the right direction! :)

Sometimes things just pop up and the only thing you have to do is grab the opportunity, take the risk and go for it!

So who reads my blog and knows about my other plans will rpobably ask: but what about Kufunda? Well I will go there in Jannuary anyway! It is part of the whole experience and it fits perfectly. I am sure I can win some more people for it and then it does not have to be me having to be there physically all the time. Life is great and I am happy!

Will keep you up to date!
S.

For God's sake put your e-mail on the blog!:)

Couldn't find it.

The Hub idea has been rolling around in the back of my mind for the better part of a week now. Any leads? I've never been big on CSR (I mean as a career path!), but I think you are on to something here. Tell me more.
